The Arrowsmith Chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists is a group of more than 60 artists who live in Qualicum Beach and surrounding areas on beautiful Vancouver Island, B.C. Our vibrant, supportive chapter consists of artists who work in all mediums, at various levels of experience from emerging to well known and acclaimed professional.

Chapter meetings are held at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre on the second Thursday of every other month, 10:00 a.m. to approximately 12:30 p.m., from September through June. In addition to Chapter business and membership information, demonstrations (art techniques, elements of composition/design in painting, etc.), art critiques, and inspiriting presentations (such as what jurors look for in a painting) are part of each meeting. Informal chapter activities include, but are not limited to, plein air painting together, Hornby Island art retreat, membership parties and gatherings (Christmas event, Spring BBQ). Various chapter artists also give art lessons and workshops. These promote enduring friendships and promote camaraderie and learning among fellow artists.

Arrowsmith Chapter holds two (2) juried shows per year, in the spring and fall. The shows are held in prominent locations in Qualicum Beach or Parksville, and are well attended by hundreds of people, tourists and locals alike. There is an Opening Gala for each show where artists can mingle with the public, and where awards are presented to the top juried paintings.

Artists and their work are also promoted through our social media presence. Advertisement of our shows is wide and varied, and our Blog and Instagram pages provide great exposure for our membership through recognition of individual achievements,  Artist of the Month feature, and other newsworthy items.

We invite artists at all levels of experience to join us in the Arrowsmith Chapter of the FCA. Please visit our website (https://arrowsmithfca.ca) to contact any of the current executive with questions or to find out how to become a part of our ever-growing and ever-learning membership.
